Suppose, then, that no independent, public validation of introspection's reliability has actually been offered, and perhaps none is even possible. Where does that leave us? Should introspection be abandoned because it violates the PV constraint? Or should that constraint itself be rejected? I shall argue that violation of the PV constraint is not such a shocking epistemological situation for a basic or fundamental cognitive process like introspection.
